Behavioral & Emotional Support Team

The Behavioral and Emotional Support Team (BEST) is a district-level team within Student Services that supports the behavioral, emotional, social, and mental health needs of students across Vestavia Hills City Schools.

The team brings together three General Education BCBAs and two Student Assistance Counselors, combining expertise in behavior, mental health, family support, consultation, and intervention planning. BEST partners with school teams to better understand barriers that may be affecting a student’s success and to develop thoughtful, individualized supports.

Through consultation, collaboration, crisis and re-entry support, behavior and intervention planning, family engagement, and connection to school and community resources, the BEST Team helps strengthen the systems and adults supporting students.
