Alabama Literacy Act
Alabama Literacy Act
Helping every child become a confident reader is one of our highest priorities. Across Alabama, families, teachers, and schools are working together to strengthen early reading skills and set students up for long-term success.
In support of this goal, the Alabama Legislature passed the Alabama Literacy Act in 2019. This law provides schools with clear guidance and resources to ensure that all students receive strong, effective reading instruction from the very beginning.
What does this mean for your child? It means a focused, supportive approach to building reading skills in the early grades—so that by the end of third grade, every student is equipped to read with confidence and succeed in all areas of learning. We are committed to partnering with you every step of the way to make that happen.
