Vestavia Hills Board of Education approves partner-funded baseball facility improvement project
January 6, 2025 – The Vestavia Hills Board of Education met this morning for a called meeting to consider bids for the renovation of the baseball facility at Vestavia Hills High School that holds the concession stand, press box, bathrooms, and dressing room. Bids were accepted and a contract was approved with CT General Contractors, LLC in the amount of $2.33 million. The Board also approved naming the building The Waggoner Family Baseball Facility.
This project is an example of the strong partnerships VHCS has within our community. 100 percent of the construction funding for this project comes from partnering sources, including the City of Vestavia Hills (through our Shared Spaces Agreement), grants from the Lieutenant Governor’s Capital Grant program, State Senator Jabo Waggoner, Jefferson County Commissioner Mike Bolin, and various corporate and private sponsorships.
Sen. Waggoner has been a strong supporter and advocate of VHCS for decades. Over many years, he has provided community grants to our school system that have supported a number of initiatives including improvements in our career and technical education programs and classroom spaces, safety and security, and the recent addition of STEM classes in our elementary schools. He has also been a legislative policy advocate for schools throughout Jefferson County and the state. VHCS is grateful for Sen. Waggoner’s legacy of support for our schools and the entire Vestavia Hills community.
