Information security is a priority at Vestavia Hills City Schools. We use a multi-layered approach following best practices to protect our network and sensitive data. Our security program focuses on processes that are supported by technical solutions. Some, but not all, of the components of the program include:

• Perimeter protections to keep attackers out, including firewalls and intrusion prevention systems
• Antivirus and anti-malware systems
• Strong passwords that are changed regularly
• Regular patch management to remove software vulnerabilities
• Email and web content filtering to prevent malicious files from entering the network
